Juneteenth Essay - Our Ancestors' Wildest Dreams

This scholarship is open to high school seniors who are planning to attend a college, university or trade school in the fall of 2025, as well as enrolled freshmen and sophomore college students.

 

Scholarship Criteria:

  • A 400 word essay regarding the impact this scholarship would make on your future educational endeavors and how Juneteenth or your ancestors have played a role in your life up to this point

  • ID / proof of Michigan Residency

  • 2025 High School, College or Trade School Transcript or class schedule

  • Current Photo

  • Letter of Recommendation – The Letter of Recommendation must include contact information for the individual providing the recommendation

  1. Michigan State ID or other proof of Kent County, MI Residency

  2. Most Recent Transcript, Report Card, or Class Schedule

  3. Headshot Photo (this photo will be used for the dinner program for the selected winners)

  4. Letter of Recommendation must include name, title/reference type, email and phone number of the individual providing the recommendation
